Did anyone have high blood pressure during pregnancy and was everything fine?

I went in to my docs office and they told me it was pretty high..

Had High BP all through first pregnancy. I did just fine. They did end up inducing me with my first because of a very high reading, but once i laid down and rested it went to normal, and during the birth I had normal to low BP. Baby was fine, I was fine and BP went back to normal after baby. Now with #2 I get a mix of high and low readings. They have not put me back on the high risk list YET, though if I continue to get high readings they will. I am trying to control it with exercise and diet. Though I do have my occasional cup of coffee and some naughty snacks.
They just dont want you to have constant high pressure reading, they then worry about eclampsia and stroke. Thats where the worry comes in. Take it easy, do what you can to reduce it, Reduce stress too thats another reason for High BP. Keep up with your doctors and really monitor it well. You will likely be fine.

which is the best brand and model number for home Automatic blood pressure arm monitor?

Omron, A&D are some of the brands I have heard of...but which model? My budget ranges from $50 to $100.

We have a generic "Pharmacist's Choice" Digital Blood Pressure Monitor 00734. It was recommended by our pharmacist, because, according to him, it is made by the same folks that make the Omron one, but it only costs about $50.

So I recommend you ask your pharmacist for a recommendation. Get one that fits just above the elbow. The wrist ones read differently, since above the elbow is the industry standard.

Ours works just fine, by the way. We really like that it inflates itself, so we don't even need to pump it up. (Who wants to pump up a bulb when they are trying to observe their resting BP?!)

How can I lose weight with diabetes 2.?

First of all I cannot lose weight because my pancrecas will not release sugar and my liver produces too much sugar. No diet can help me until these problems are under control. In one week I will attend a three hour seminar that my doctor will hold for diabetic patients. He will give us a program to follow where we can lose weight and eat what we want to. Until I hear what this plan is I decided to eat normally. In doing to I have gained five pounds. I understand that fiber plays a big role in losing weight, but fiber foods are high in carbs. I do not want to gain another five pounds within this next week so what foods loaded with fiber can I eat. I am afraid that when I eat carbs I get fatter and fatter, but fiber is the way to go. The doctor's patients lose weight like crazy, but until I find out what this plan is, what should I eat. I am so confused. Thank you.

Water Retention. Is there any thing else to do?

I am 26 years old and have been retaining water in my legs for about 6 years. I have been to several different doctors, several different times. I have heard everything from Lymphadema, to its normal, to there is no way its normal. I have been tested for Rheumatoid Arthritis, liver problems, kidney problems, lupus, heart problems, diabetes, thryoid problems, all have been negative. Just recently I have been diagnosed with high blood pressure so they put me on 25mg of Hydrochlorthiazide that sometimes work and some times don't. When it comes to PMS I can gain up to 10 lbs a month. My Dr's don't seem to be too concerned but having to have 2 different sizes of clothes sucks. Is there anything else I can do? Maybe something natural?

This is rather difficult. Sitting around for long periods can sometimes cause water retention. Have you tried exercising ?
I note you were prescribed one diuretic for your blood pressure. BP is an insidious disease and you would be advised to continue your medication.
Have you been checked for diabetes mellitus ? Another question, have you been checked for cardiovascular problems ?

I babysit for my niece and nephew and have been noticing a few things that concern me in my niece.

She could be, but then she is having symptoms of several different things. Diabetes symptoms are not exclusive to diabetes. With the different symptoms that this child has, her parents do need to take her to her doctor for a complete check up as soon as possible. The constant hunger, constant thirst and itching skin, are some of the more common symptoms of diabetes. Talk to her parents about it. Asking a 4 year old about certain things in most cases won't really get you too far. Many children say they are hungry because they are bored. She would be in a higher risk category if her parents have the disease, but there is a slight risk factor if her grandparents have it. How does a 4 year old know she has blurry vision? Lots of 4 year olds can be irritable and emotional. This is very common with a lot of kids that age. If the child is being active, this can be the cause for drinking more than usual. Getting sick when she eats sugar could be from several things. Many kids can't tolerate concentrated sugar. Don't jump on the wagon too quickly. The best bet is to have a doctor do some tests on her.

Accuracy of blood pressure monitor in cold weather?

Just had a visiting nurse come in to check my blood pressure. The outside temp was 22F. within 3 minutes and 10 minutes, she took my BP which showed higher than I've ever read in my life (by 30 pts on systolic and 20 points on diastolic). I can accept some "white coat syndrom" effect but my belief is that it had to be either the machine is inaccurate and/or it was in her car overnight or for so long that the temperature affecting the measurement. within an hour, I went to both a local pharmacies free BP machine and the average of 4 measurements was 126/85. I've asked for retest but wanted to see if anyone with experience (visiting nurse?) can comment. Note: She also had a scale that didn't turn on until she stood on it 3-4 times due to being "too cold" (her words).

If the nurse was using the old-fashioned mercury sphygmanometer (unlikey nowadays) it would not be very dependent on temperature. But the more modern electronic ones might be.

It is possible that if the device used on you had been stored for a while in an unheated car at 22F (-5.6C, I think) it could well be below +10C a short time later, and therefore give an unreliable reading. I am doing a school prestination on diabetes and exercise what should I include on the poster?

I am having a hard time separting what should be on the poster and what should be on the handout any one have any ideas?

Include positive images. I'm sick of seeing adverts that label Diabetes as bad. Of course the illness is bad, but there is no need to put negative images in people head when they get the illness. It just adds to the depression they go through.

Maybe include a few pics of celebs/pop stars with the illness. Include a positive slogan. Add some images with foods, nice foods, maybe some diebetic cakes/chocoloate etc.

Whatever you do, don't fill it with gloom. When your teacher asks why you chose such images, you tell them Diabetes is an illness, people should be aware of it, but should not look at it with a negative attitude and instead realize they can still live a normal life with the condition.
