How do I receive medical and dental care with insurance but no credit?
Recently my wife and I have stabilized our finances by entering a debt management plan. This effectively "froze" all of my credit cards not even leaving me my emergency card which I had paid about $3,000 down on. They aren't technically canceled but I am unable to charge anything to them until completion of my debt management plan.
My wife and I both have medical, dental, and vision insurance but no credit. How do I receive health care since they bill you the full amount minus the co-pay immediately? I have a broken tooth that I know is about to give me a one way ticket to immobilizing pain but we still live paycheck to paycheck with about $100 going into savings per month. There is also my diabetes which is going untreated and my wife has cavities that need to be filled. Is there a medical deferment or payment plan possible? I really have no idea what to do and I am getting very limited information searching on google. We have Cigna for health insurance and Advantage Dental.
healthplans.my-age.net - my family have this health insurance. It is affordable and has good coverage for dental issues.

24 hour blood pressure monitor - how should i position my arm?
i am wearing a 24 hour holter for blood pressure - does it make a difference what position my arm is in?
I thought it needs to be on a table - parallel with my heart
Because the readings you get on the monitor aren't real (that is, they're NOT measurements of your true arterial pressures, only indirect reflections of true ones) it really doesn't matter, -so long as you ensure that every time the cuff inflates, it's the same place and location and 'aspect' every time. In this way, you can compare 'like' with 'like'.
Yes, it makes a difference whether your arm is hanging by your side, resting on a table, or even extended above your head, and you'll get different readings in each of these positions,
BUT: -..............only CHANGES are real, so you can position your arm any way you like, -as long as you compare like with like, from reading to reading.
Even then, you won't be able to make sense of the readings.. Doctors can't... they only pretend to. The readings on your monitor are direct reflections of the work your heart is doing, and this (of course) bears almost no relationship with time. Excepting the Circadian Rhythm and regular mealtimes, sleep, etc. But you can alter the "readings" in any way you want, simply by staying inactive the whole 24 hors, or playing Football, having sex, or getting drunk... So this is why the test is almost meaningless. Do it 5 separate days, you'll 5 different results, some "no abnormality" and some "catastrophic", and anything in between..
There IS a way to interpret the results.... so as they make sense, but very few of us know it... The medical profession doesn't want to know it, -they aren't even interested

I am 18 and i have recently been getting skipped beats and it takes my breath away. I went to the doctor and had a ecogram and blood work+EKG and he said i was Ok and it was caused by caffeine, but my blood pressure is 140/80 and sometimes i can hear a loud pumping sounds that worry's me from my heart sounds like a swooshing. Do you think i should worry about this or if there was a problem it would have came up ? thank you for the help in advance.
Hi, I too get these myself. They are called PVC's and yes I agree with you they are very scary and when I first started getting them I had no idea what they were. Ask your doctor to give you a holter monitor test, where you wear it for 24 hours that way they can record your hearts activity for 24 hours and hopefully catch some of these skipped beats to let you know what you are dealing with. Most of the time they are not serious and do come from caffiene, stress, panic attacks etc. Good luck and try not to worry because worries make it worse.
Has anyone every heard of "Medical" paying for a diabetic pump for at Type 1 Diabetic?
My boyfriend is a complete miracle. He is 42 and is a brittle diabetic. He manages his diabetes with two different insulins, but he can go as low as 40 then as high as 500 all in the span of 24-48 hours. I am not a doctor but I am sure that this can not be healthy. He has had a life full of drinking, unhealthy eating, unmedicated mental illness, and drug abuse. This past year he has cleaned up his act and is really working hard on getting his diabetes under control. I know a pump is his answer. He is regulating his mental illness with medication under the care of a doctor and is doing 95% better as far as eating goes. Because of his bi-polar condition he is on SSI and Medical. I need to know if anyone has heard of Medical covering the Pump or if there are any other options. . .charities, or foundations that supply pumps to those who are in desperate need. I have a few friends who work for a major supplier of "pumps", but they don't know either. Please HELP!
The pump is definitely a great thing!! My 5-year-old son, who is also a Type 1 diabetic, has been on the insulin pump for 2 1/2 years. Garrett's sugars were erratic when he was on the shots, but once he began using the pump, his sugars have been much more manageable.
We are now on our second insulin pump and the insurance covers 100% of the pump and the pump supplies. If your boyfriend has medicare if he has SSI and Disability, so I am sure you can get some, if not all, covered by insurance. Below are a couple links to the two pumps we have had - the Medtronic Minimed and the Deltec Cozmo. Contact them - they can help your boyfriend get the help he needs and will work with the insurance company! Good luck from one Type 1'er to another!!

Low blood pressure after taking high blood pressure medication?
I was recently diagnosed with high blood pressure and put on a high blood pressure medication. My blood pressure is now 120 over 40...is this safe and should I take my blood pressure medication tonight? I am 18 years old, and high blood pressure does run in my family. Thanks.
Your blood pressure is still in the normal range, although the bottom number is a bit on the low side of things. You are still up moving around, talking and able to type on the computer- so it's not dangerous. When you first begin taking medication to control blood pressure, it often does need fine tuning to reach equilibrium. One single pressure reading is not particularly helpful though, to diagnose either high or low blood pressure. What you should do is monitor your pressures twice daily for at least a week. Take it in the morning once you are up moving around and have had breakfast. Take it again in the afternoon or early evening. At the end of the week, average your morning pressures, your evening pressures, and then all the pressures. That average is a lot more useful to your doctor if a medication change is needed. And don't worry about a low bottom number, as long as you are conscious, talking and acting normal.
