How long does it take for type one diabetes to show up?
how long does it take for someone to show the signs, how quickly do the symptoms come on and i know like kids and teens get it but can any one give me like a number?
I am a type 1 diabetic and I was diagnosed when I was 16. I've been a diabetic for 12 years. If you do not get it by the time you are 18 or so, you don't have to worry. That's why type 1 diabetes is referred to as juvenile diabetes, because you get it as a juvenile. The symptoms are very quick and basically come out of nowhere. You will notice a drastic change in the way you feel such as peeing literally every 5-10 minutes, having to have a drink by you at ALL times, and weight loss with no change in your diet.

Recently went to do my mass body index, I was told my blood pressure is now 130/90 and was asked to review my food intake and some other things. there are certain factors on why you are having an elevated blood pressure. they are:
1. age - as we get older, BP fluctuates.
2. gender
3. heredity
4. temperature - the hotter it is, the higher your BP will.
5. weight
6. diet (lifestyle, vices, etc.)
7. activity
P.S.
*the normal BP is...
systole - 120-140
diastole - 70-90
**but it still depends upon the person...remember that we are "individuals", what is normal with one may not be normal with the other.
***don't take your BP when your exhausted, take a 15-30 minutes break before measuring. and also, dont take your BP if you just ate (you will have an elevated BP if you do so).

Yes all there do put you in a state of mind in which you usually can't control. BUT.. you can overdose on cocaine, and you can get alcohol poisoning from alcohol; but you can't die from marijuana So, if people continue to abuse alcohol to the point where they get alcohol poisoning then they should make it illegal. And cocaine should stay illegal. But, they should definitely make marijuana legal and treat it with the same rules as alcohol. Then they could get rid of alcohol completely.

i have been using aspartame (Equal) for years. i was fine with it until i read a couple of months ago that it has now actually been proved to cause all sorts of problems with liver, kidneys and some other conditions i don't recall right now. anyway, today yahoo food put up a recipe for "nostalgic apple pie" (so NOT nostalgic) with splenda and everyone went crazy commenting about the fake sugars vs. real sugar. lots thought splenda was the worst thing you could use. so can a dietitian or someone who knows a lot more about foods than i do please clarify this for me? is there a "safe" sweetener with little or no calories that i (a diabetic) can use? or is a small amount of real sugar ok? and i thought brown sugar was just white sugar with molasses in it, or is it something different than that? i can't find the answers on dr.oz. i am confused now, totally. thanks pc
I believe aspartame is poison. Splenda/sucralose is still a chemical but I would choose it over aspartame. Stevia is a healthy option. Saccharin has controversy but has been in use for over a hundred years.
Mixing sweeteners have a synergistic quality. Some forms of stevia & saccharin have bad aftertaste (especially if it's overdone). You might consider mixing saccharin & stevia with a bit of splenda to optimize the sweetness & minimize the dangers. I'd suggest the liquid forms (liquid sucralose can be bought on ebay) over dry (due to the dry forms adding dextrose for bulk) and mix the 3 in a separate dropper container.
You are correct about brown sugar. I implore you to stay away from aspartame.

Why is my systolic blood pressure so high, while my diastolic is normal?
I've lost a lot of weight over the last 14 months, over 100 pounds. Before the weightloss my bp was normalish. In October when I donated blood it was 117/73, A month ago when I went to my Physican Assistant psych doctor it was at156/90, an hour later it dropped to 136/83. Two weeks later it was 136/83. When I had a check up for it last week it was 128/80, today I had it checked [my MD wants to get 6 weeks of results to check for a pattern], it was 136/70. I am currently on Lamictal for bpII, and amoxicilan for a tooth infection /root canal. I also take cal/mag coq10, vitamin D, a multivitamin, sustained release niacin and iron as my iron level is in the low normal range. No concern for my md, but too low to donate blood. Any ideas?? I watch my salt like a hawk, don't drink soda, eat lots of fruts/veggies and whole grains, exercise daily and drink 2 - 4 liters of h20 day. I also seriously limit my caffiene to a cup or two of green tea a day. Heart issues do run in my family.
your blood pressures are nothing that id worry about, 130/70 isnt high, actually its pretty normal, and your physican assistant probably doesnt know how to check a blood pressure thats why it was so high lol. normal bp is 100-150/60-100 and "normal" is 120/80 so if i were you i wouldnt worry about it
