are there any programs i can look into for help paying for diabeties testing supplies?
my work offers "free" insurance. but we get no prescription coverage. i just found out i am diabetic and had to go buy a meter and such. is there a way i can cut down costs on the prescription and the testing strips? do companies offer rebates or coupons? are there stores cheaper then others?
There are ALL kinds of companies that offer free meters with a months supply of strips but usually after that month the strips can be expensive. Don't switch from one meter to another bcuz each meter will be slightly different in readings and it is possible to really mess your sugars up. Call some of the meter companies and ask about low-income based services for testing supplies. Try PPA.org or maybe it's PPA.com. Prescription Plan of America is what it's called. Also, your Dr may get free smaples of things from drug reps and the office can specifically ask for a certain type of strip each month for a short time. Alot of states have prescription plans that htey don't publish to the general public but if you go to your Medicaid office (medical welfare) and tell them you have health insurance just not Rx coverage they may be able to help.

When I got pregnant with my son just this year is when I experienced my first yeast infection and it was terrible...I had another one after that during pregnancy and then didn't have them at all...but I have gotten 3 now in the last month and a half...I never had them before in my life. I got the mirena after my son was born and I'm wondering if that is it. I am a healthy person, workout everyday, defn. don't think I'm diabetic (no family history of it). I do eat sugar and bread...I don't eat TONS of it though. I'm so annoyed with this. I'm going to the doctor soon, but in the mean time...has anyone experienced this and what do you think.
I do believe that yeast infections can be onset by changes in body hormone levels. This could be from the Mirena changing the levels of female hormones or it could be from sex. From my understanding, yeast infections can be passed to and fro. Make sure your partner is washing well down there and make sure you yourself are following this advice as well. It is not suggested to scrub down there as this can irritate the infection and dry out the area making itching and discomfort much worse.

What issues can cause high blood pressure and what treatment/techniques are given to reduce it?
I am a first year student nurse and have an assignment due in in the near future. I don't want anyone to write an essay, just need pointing in the right direction with my chosen goal of care which is to reduce a patients' blood pressure. She has been newly diagnosed with a worrying condition, she has an infection and has recently been given chemotherapy. She is only 23yr old. (Please remember, this is an assignment and the age of this patient has been changed slightly and no names have been mentioned in order to protect patient confidentiality)
Sodium(salt), stress and some heart conditions all have a part in high blood pressure. To reduce it the normal things are eat right, try and exercise and reduce the salt/sodium intake. Sometimes a diuretic to get excess water off will help the heart which in turns helps the blood pressure.
Stress (in my case) plays the biggest part in the raise in my own blood pressure. I've reduced the stress as much as possible. As for exercise, your chemo patient may not be physically able to do much exercise in which case I'd recommend pilates or yoga or something easy to start and build up strength.

I went on vacation to Disney world for a week and during that time my feet and anlkles swelled up from what I thought was a lot of walking. When I got back home I went to an urgicare clinic to make sure that I ad not injured my ankle or something and they did an EKG and chest xray and seemed really unconcerned about the fact that I did a lot of walking. They said that my chest xray looked OK and he did not go into the details of my EKG, but I did see on the sheet that it said enlarged left side ventricle. He put me on a "water pill" and told me to follow up with my DR within a couple of days. Of course my DR can't see me for like a week. Should I be freaked out about this? My blood pressure was like 146/96. My blood oxygen was 98%. I have been taking this pill and lost like 12lbs in a couple of days. I missed a dose this weekend and I immediately noticed a gain back in water.
I am just curious if I should be freaked out, because I can't see my Dr until friday?
I wouldn't freak out so much at this point, but I would be sure to keep your appointment with your family physician to follow up. Sometimes on vacation, your diet habits change and you take in a little more sodium than usual, and you can retain fluid easily.
Your family doctor should recommend an echocardiogram, or ultrasound of your heart to make sure your heart functions normally and is nice and strong. This can also view your heart valves to make sure they aren't leaky or tight (work properly). It can measure the walls of your heart to see if they are enlarged. (If he/she doesn't order an echo, ask for one!)
Have you had any other symptoms besides the swelling? Do you get short of breath easily? Is it hard for you to lie flat at night? Do you have chest pains? Are you on blood pressure medicines? Are you diabetic? Smoker? Family history of heart problems? These are all things they should ask when you go for your follow up.
Otherwise, be compliant with your water pill in the mean time. Weigh yourself daily, and keep your follow up! Good luck!
Heart disease fact sheetAngela's storyIn 1991, I went to the ER with chest pains twice in one week. They said it was ulcers (bleeding in the stomach). Then the pain became very intense. Again, the ER said there was nothing they could do. I refused to leave and was admitted for observation. Later, the doctor on duty saw my EKG and asked, "Where's the 34-year-old who had the massive heart attack?" I...
i baught a sanyo lcd hdtv from wal-mart in tfebruary,i had to hook up a cable box to it,so i took my tv off the wall mount and held it on top of my dresser and one of the mounts screws came out of the top i was holding the tv in one arm,and screwed the lose screw back into the top of the mount to not lose the screw,it was at an angle, and the tv screen touched the corner of my dvd player for maybe a minute or so,i raised the tv back up to then go connect my cables and there was two grey spots, one big to the right of where the tv touched the dvd playr, and another small circle where it touched, there are lines in it like it's cracked the lcd.but i never heard anything, didn't even touch it for that long or hard, there is no indentation on the screen what-so-ever! but there are long verticle colored lines on the screen and a good portion of it is black and has those two grey areaswhen tv is turned on,i have the original reciept and a 2 year warrenty,is it possible to return?
You cannot return it to the store, we have a 90 day return poicy on tvs, with a receipt at Wal-Mart. You can go to the store, and get the service desk to print you manufactures paper so you can contact the manufacter. You are now under manufactures warranty. I know it was an accident, but that may fall under customer abuse Your two year service plan doesn't kick in until the manufactures warranty expires, wich with Sayno it will be a year from the date of purchase, wich is next February

Try and do some exercise, it doesn't matter what, even just sitting ion bed waving your feet/legs or bending back and forth will help. Exercise is a major part of dieting.
A good variety of food is necessary for a balance intake of vitamins and minerals.
Fruit and vegetables, grains, nuts, plus a modest amount of protein and fat make up a good diet.
Try to be seasonal, eat what is fresh and plentiful.
With a lactose and probably a gluten intolerance you should avoid milk and cheese and wheat products. Experiment with a variety of grains, there are a lot of them and don't forget beans.
