so the nurse wants me to go back for the second test but i failed the first test with 167.. pretty much all the diabetes signs are correct. my question is why do women with diabetes have big babies, does the diabetes effect the baby in any way. im 31 weeks and started out weiging 125 now im 160 and still have 9 weeks to go.
yes GD does effect the baby, your sugers dont get processed correctly and literly saturate the child in a suger enviroment, causing to massive wieght gain in the child, also in sever cases can start to effect there organs, a largge baby might even signal yoor body the babys done baking when in fact thier not, a actual 33week baby might be as big as a 42 week causing pre term labor
some GD can be controled with dite alone, others need meds, the idea is to make sure your child isnt exposed to a mass does of anything, and grows in the most balanced eviroment...
not to mention GD can effect you, causing dizyness, eratic HB, preeclamsia, swelling seazures and even coma and death
so its very important to get tested, and if you come up with GD to stay the course of the dite and/or meds

No, too much sugar is NOT responsible for diabetes. And after the onset of type 2 it is important to reduce carbohydrates, sugar just happens to be one. It is just as important to watch how much rice or potatoes or white bread or milk is consumed as it is sugar.
Also "Fully" needs to work on her facts and stop going to "that place where all the people go that know nothing about diabetes" because her "facts" are wrong! She may be a type 1 diabetic but that does not make her an expert on diabetes.
