Lower My Blood Pressure: Different Methods

Only a few days ago, the doctor diagnosed my hypertension. It was a good thing that I went to my doctor for my annual check-up since I was not actually experiencing any of the symptoms. After the doctor diagnosed my condition, he discussed the different measures to lower my blood pressure.

The first measure that the doctor discussed is anti-hypertensive drugs. My doctor discussed the different types of anti-hypertensive medications and how each of these is able to lower blood pressure. Some of the anti-hypertensive medications that he discussed are calcium channel blockers, diuretics, angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors, beta-blockers, and many more.

I really felt sad when the doctor started discussing the different side effects brought about by these anti-hypertensive drugs. Even if the adverse effects may not be bad for me, I still dod not want to experience these for the rest of my life. Unfortunately, taking the anti-hypertensive drugs is necessary for me since there are life-threatening complications to uncontrolled hypertension.

Regular exercise is the second thing that the doctor talked about. My doctor told me that having a sedentary lifestyle is a risk factor for hypertension. And since I do not lead an active lifestyle and my work entails me to sit in front of the PC most of the time, I knew that my sedentary lifestyle could have been one of the reasons why I am hypertensive.

Therefore, the doctor told me to set aside 30 minutes in my daily routine in order to exercise. He even told me that the most effective aerobic exercises in lowering blood pressure are skating, skiing, swimming, brisk walking, jogging, and others.

The third measure to lower my blood pressure is proper diet. Indeed, our overall health can be greatly influenced by the food that we eat. First, I was advised to eat more fruits, nuts, poultry, fish, whole grain products, and low-fat dairy products. Second, I was advised to eat less foods that contain alcohol and caffeine as well processed and red meats. Third, I should limit my salt intake to only 1,500 milligrams a day. Fourth, I was told to choose fruits and vegetables that are rich in potassium, magnesium, and fiber. Examples of these fruits and vegetables are bananas, apples, broccoli, carrots, mangoes, raisins, oranges, squash, pineapples, spinach, potatoes, tomatoes, and many more. And fifth, my intake of sweets must be limited to 5 tablespoons per week only.

Stress reduction is the third thing that the doctor talked about. My doctor also told me that stress is a risk factor for hypertension. First, the doctor helped me in pointing out the source of my stress. For the past months, I have been dealing with really stressful situations at work. And since I cannot avoid these situations in the office, I had to learn effective stress reduction techniques. And so, I learned about the simple techniques to reduce stress like deep breathing, listening to classical music, playing games with my children outdoors, and strolling at the park.

Indeed, all these four measures have been very effective in my resolve to lower my blood pressure. And I recently started taking ion eXtra capsules which has significantly lowered my blood pressure.
